North Carolina Award for Fine Arts

In 1961, the General Assembly established the North Carolina Awards, the highest honor the state of North Carolina can bestow. The awards, which have been referred to as the "Nobel Prizes" of North Carolina, recognize notable attainments of North Carolinians in the fields of Literature, Science, the Fine Arts, and Public Service.
